return code of the program. Before termination, all files are closed, buffered

output is written and any functions registered with <CODE>

<A HREF="funcref-65.html#atexit">atexit</A></CODE> are called. Common values for status are <CODE>EXIT_SUCCESS</CODE> and

<CODE>EXIT_FAILURE</CODE> which are also defined in <CODE>
